U.K. Game Market Declines

The U.K.'s Entertainment Retailers Association says the overall game market in the U.K. declined by 17.4% in 2012 reports MCV. That figure encompasses digital as well as retail sales, as a 26% drop in physical sales more than offset a 7.7% increase in digital sales.

I'd love to know how they collate accurate digital sales figures, considering how many different e-tailers there are..I'm in the UK and I buy a lot of games off Steam, but can Valve et al really be bothered to pigeonhole their sales based on location and then hand that data over to a third party?
