Codemasters announces a May 29th release date for DiRT Showdown, the continuation of their rally racing series that has been driving towards a May release since it was announced late last year. The game will be the first release under a new Codemasters Racing label, and the release will be supported by a playable demo on May 1st and RaceNet, a new online hub for Codemasters Racing games. Word is: "The demo will feature a solo and multiplayer event and will be available from Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network and Steam on PC." They also announce a special "Hoonigan" edition of DiRT Showdown is now available for pre-order from Walmart, featuring in-game bonuses items, and they offer a new Ultimate Hoonigan trailer to celebrate the news.

Well, according to some of the Youtube vids, the demo is already out there somewhere and someone is purported to have a crack available for either the demo or the full version. Is it all an elaborate social engineering hoax to get me (you) to click, or is it legit?
Tune back NEXT TIME, on Republican Space Rang...uh, I mean, DIRT SHOWROOM SHOWDOWN FIREWORKS GOOD GAME BOOM! (contains less than 10% real fruit juice)
EDIT: Just tell me one thing, please? What in the hell is the draw about drifting?!? I don't get it, I really don't. I like the DIRT series, though I wish they'd put it on the shelf for a year or two and come out with a good sequel to GRID instead. I still play GRID regularly and aside from a somewhat 'twitch' handling (in the 'non-pro' modes anyway, as I can't shift gears in a manual transmission even if my frakin' life depended on it...hence the 6-speed shift on my G25 goes pretty much unused unless I get frisky some days and try it, as if I somehow learned to stick-shift between now and the last time I failed miserably) So, yeah, what gives? It's not that it's BAD per-se, just I don't see a point or an 'allure' to the whole thing and I wonder what the motivation is to have it as an actual motorsport?
