Op Ed

Gaming Nexus - Fixing Duke Nukem Forever Part 1.
Duke Nukem Forever begins with a nostalgic cutscene that relives the best moments from Duke Nukem 3D in an evocative, frame-by-frame pop art style. I found this interesting, because after beating DNF I think this cutscene is possibly the worst thing the developers could have done to help their case for the new game. DNF is finally here! Look at all the awesome things you did in the last game…that you won’t do at all in DNF.

Heh - timely for me, since I just spent 6 hours playing DNF this weekend.

Apart for the annoyingly long intro where you walk around doing nothing and the last-gen (yet still perfectly serviceable) visuals I found that this game's universal shellacking by reviewers was completely unwarranted and unfair. I personally had great fun once the shooting, kicking, punching, driving, and exploding started. I mean some publications and media outlets gave this game like a 2 out of 10. Really? Did we play the same game? At absolute worst, I'd given it a 6.5. At times in encroaches into 8 territory, so I have no idea what these reviewers had up their asses when it comes to the game.

How many of them, I wonder, were actually reviewing the 12-year wait, the massive cluster that was 3D Realms, and that idiot Broussard? The single biggest annoyance for me was the 4-weapon limit, which might have played a role in the low scores because at release I understand it was actually a 2-weapon limit, which is utterly ridiculous and stupid. WTF were they thinking?

BTW, the game is 14 bucks at, in case anyone cares.
