Skyrim Day One Patch Plans; Another Bonus Race Revealed

Responding to questions about release/support plans for Friday's release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bethesda Community Manager made a very short post to the NeoGAF forums about plans to patch the RPG sequel: "Yep. All platforms going to 1.1 by 11/11/11" (thanks Acleacius). Also, GameSpy has details on a second bonus race in the game if you want to see. Thanks GameFront via VG247. We're trying to help people avoid spoilers, so please avoid spilling any beans in our forums.

Is that a bad thing? There's nothing preventing you from buying a game after you've pirated it. If you pirate a game, enjoy it and believe it is worth $60, then go buy it for $60. If you think it's worth $30, then go buy it for $30. I pirated Dead Island and enjoyed it enough to pay $35 for it. It's another open-world action game that will hold my attention for about 20 hours before I lose interest and stop playing.

And as you well know the problem with this philosophy is that most people would find a reason not to pay, or not to pay full price. "Oh no the menus are shitty, what a crappy port, I'm not paying them despite playing it for 50 hours."

The honor system doesn't work because humans are selfish, ignorant and flawed.

The people who will use the menu as an excuse not to pay full price for a game are not going to pay full price for a game no matter what. Stop punshing legit consumers for those a-holes. There are PLENTY of people, like the Dead Island guy below, who basically pirate as insurance. Wasting sixty bucks is a BIG DEAL to most people. Two crappy games means you've wasted over 100 bucks already.

How often does that have to happen until it becomes okay to pirate-demo? I'll ask you to pay 60 dollars for a copy of Masters Of Orion 3 and then let me know how that tastes.
