Blizzard DOTA & Mod Tools Panel recap on the BlizzCon Website has details on plans for Blizzard's DOTA release for StarCraft II, which will be free except it will cost something, using this to also highlight how they will be providing modders with tools to both create and distribute both free and premium custom content. On a related note, Eurogamer quotes Blizzard president Mike Morhaime repeating the assertion that Valve should not trademark the DOTA name: "We're very friendly with Valve. So yeah, we do talk to Valve," he began, before dropping the other shoe. "I can share that our opinion about the situation is that the DOTA name really should belong to the community. I think that it's been part of the Warcraft 3 community for a very long time, and we would like to see the community continue being able to use that name, and having an exclusive mark owned by a competitor doesn't feel right to us." Here's a bit on how their new take on DOTA will remove some of the "inherent social tension" of MOBA games:
