Team Fortress 2 Über Update Thursday, Free Play This Week

The Team Fortress 2 Website reveals plans for an Über Update, a new feather in the cap for this teamplay shooter, saying they are celebrating with a "WEEK-LONG FREE WEEKEND" of Team Fortress 2, which is now underway. The update, which Valve describes as "the biggest, most ambitious update in the history of Team Fortress 2," will go live on Thursday, and they are teasing the release with Mobster Monday, the first of their class pack announcements. There will be more teasing leading up to the release, and in the meantime they offer the following clues, presenting what seems to be an impenetrable mystery:

1.) It IS a "Meet the" short.
2.) It involves ONE of the two remaining classes.
3.) It's NOT the Pyro.
4.) It's the MEDIC.

I don't think the Medic really needs any additional weapons or items. The fact that he can turn himself and someone else invincible is potent enough as it is.

I can only really think of two items like that, most are sidegrades that usually have a downside attached to them. I still think the game is fairly well balanced despite that, I had no problem competing with the default weapons. Still I do wish they had a "I dont like grinding, give me access to everything" option though.

There are quite a few unlockables that provide distinct advantages over the default weapons. The Buff Banner, for example, gives everyone around you mini-crits for a period of time. In a team-based game with lots of chokepoints, this is significantly more useful than having a shotgun. The Spy's unlockables are really overpowered. The Dead Ringer makes spies appear to die when hit, when in truth they instantly cloak. If you "killed" them with fire, the fire is automatically extinguished and the spy is much harder to kill while cloaked. Your Eternal Reward is incredibly overpowered, as it instantly disguises you as whoever you killed. Not only that, but the corpse turns invisible and the kill is silent. As such, unless somebody saw you get the kill, they'd have no idea that anything even happened. The Conniver's Kunai heals you whenever you backstab someone, up to two-times your regular max health. Both of these daggers are clearly superior to the default dagger, which does the same amount of damage but has no other effects.
