Battle.net announces more account suspensions and bans in StarCraft II: Wigs of Liberty, Blizzard's RTS sequel: We recently issued a new round of account suspensions and bans to StarCraft II players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using hack programs while playing. In addition to undermining the spirit of fair competition that’s essential to play on Battle.net, cheating and hacking can lead to stability and performance issues with the service.
As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and secure online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we'll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed.

When people get caught cheating in eve these days, it allways comes back that it's ccp fault, their code with the holes, you can't blame us for doing it ect..
The last two major incidents thats been the case, the worm hole exploiters, and the people that were exploiting moon resources.
Currently there's a bot plague in the game: the justification for that, again ccp's fault, mining/isk earning isn't fun, so we use bots.
It's a mentality thing these days, people actualy seem to belive it's acceptable to cheat:( Well said. It's hard to really state if there's been a human mentality shift - or perhaps this mentality has always existed in humans, since the beginning of ever.
Thinking back to the past of any incident you can think of, where humans have competed in any organized game/sport, there's been cheating of some shape or form. And how many ways have we seen the cheaters rationalize themselves?
And how often, has the cheat been so brilliant and so well thought out, that it begged the question - if the cheaters had invested that same cheating energy towards instead playing within the rules...would they not have excelled, and legitimately so?
But that's the past. Present day we see people use any or all of the below:
"not my fault the game is bugged" "not my fault I can do this" "this takes too long. not my fault I don't want to wait" "why shouldn't I have what he has?" "he shouldn't have beat me. who cares how i win, as long as i win" "i payed for this, so I can do anything I want" |
