Crytek Responds to Crysis 2 Leak

The Crysis 2 Blog has an official reaction from Crytek to news that a pre-gold build of their upcoming shooter sequel Crysis 2 has leaked onto torrent sites:

Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.

The only reviews that can trusted are user reviews. Most review's are bought and paid for by the game company or someone affiliated with them. I wouldn't buy any games without lots of research. The thing I'm trying to get at is that these companies are not held accountable for faulty software and if they know it is not polished, they should not charge 50-60$.

If games had to be 100% polished before going out the door there'd be far fewer games made.
And reviews are very, very, very, very, rarely paid for.

I never understand why people here make all kinds of "consumer" demands without realizing that some things would really affect you badly. Yes, some games do get released in a broken state. Typically you can know this within an hour of it being released and avoid it, as messageboards such as this one will discuss it. And most games are released in less-than-perfect shape. But typically it's a choice between pushing it out the door like that or not releasing it at all.

The push for better quality control in video games would just mean fewer games get made, and it would mean the games would likely cost more. Some of the best games I've played were buggy as hell. RDR, for a very recent example. That got pushed out the door because RockStar was fed up with dealing with the development. The studio was on the verge of shut down. Layoffs happened anyway.
But the game was awesome.

Under the standard of "more polish" we'd never have seen it.
