Assassin's Creed Brotherhood PC Interview

The Assassin's Creed Brotherhood PC interview on PC Games Hardware talks with David Coulombe of Ubisoft Montreal about Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, learning what's being done with the time between the release of the console editions of the stealth/action series and the upcoming PC edition. The game still only supports DirectX 9, but he talks about how bugs from the console release will be fixed in the PC edition, and goes on to describe PC-specific features as: "Scalable settings (multi-core, higher frame rate, higher resolution, MSAA, higher shadow, reflexion [sic], environment quality etc.), as well as Eyefinity and 3DVision support. The other advantage is the guarantee of hard-drive installation which ensures decent loading times." He also explains what's improved over the previous Assassin's Creed games: "Graphically we've added some image processing effects such as SSAO and better level of detail transitions. A brand new shadow algorithm was also developed to increase the overall visual quality."

It's actually superior to AC2 in every way.

1) Can the majority of fights still be won by holding down Block and pressing Counter when enemies attack you one at a time?
2) Does platforming still consist of holding down two buttons and letting the game do everything for you?
3) Is the stealth still incredibly shallow compared to games like Hitman, Splinter Cell and Thief?

Those are the three main reasons why AC and AC2 failed to hold my interest for more than a few hours.
