Blizzard announces sales figures for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, saying the third expansion for their MMORPG sold through more than 3.3 million copies during its first 24 hours of availability. They say this makes the add-on the fastest-selling PC game of all time (including digital pre-sales), "based on internal company records and reports from key distribution partners." They say: "This milestone eclipses the previous record of more than 2.8 million copies sold in 24 hours, set in November 2008 by Blizzard’s second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King." On a semi-related note, the new UK game sales chart from GFK Chart-Track is online, where Cataclysm is number three in a chart that's still dominated by Call of Duty: Black Ops.
