World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Launch

Today is the launch of the new Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft, Blizzard's all-conquering MMORPG. There were midnight launch events in the wee hours, and if you missed out, you can relive the magic by opening all your windows and watching the video on GameSpot or the video on OC Register. There's a report on the launch in the U.K. on MCV. There are First Impressions on PC Gamer where they also have 15 reasons to play Cataclysm. There's also this trailer (NSFW) with a clever music video about the add-on's cataclysmic events, with apologies to R.E.M. Thanks Ant.

You have 7 days of free game time to check it out, everyone got them this year. I logged into my battle net account to change my beta settings the other day and saw them there.
Are you saying I can do this again like Burning Crusade (10 days I think?) with my old character/account?

Yes. Everyone who didn't have an active account got 7 days of free game time. That's normal game time, not a trial mode type thing. You will not have access to the new expansion only content(new zones and races) but you can check out what they have done to the old world. Login to your battle.net account to verify it, it should be listed under there as "Claim 7 days free game time" or something.

Cool. Does this offer end? I won't have time for a while.
