Out of the Blue

I was listening to some sports radio in the car this morning, and it is a sad commentary on the state of New York basketball in post-Ewing era that LeBron James' free agency is the biggest hoop story in town in the past decade. Then Ant sent a link to the "We Are LeBron" Video that has me sympathizing with Cleveland more than ever in this situation. And while I don't know if he will join the Knicks, I think it's likely he's gone from Cleveland, or he would have signed a contract extension a while ago and avoided all the distractions. Anyway, the video is very funny, and while I bristle at the characterization of New Yorkers as "unbearable," I can't disagree with their point that "the Knicks and Nets are terrible."

well it's no secret that Lebs has wanted to come to NYC for years now. It's just as much about the city as it is the basketball itself. If he can get the contract he wants he'll take NY over any place else. If I was a pro athlete I'd take NY over L.A. or most other places too. He'll come to the Knicks and they'll re-build it into a winning franchise.

I'm sorry the Bruins lost, oh well. I'd really like to see a Habs v. Blackhawks final. I wouldn't mind seeing the Blackhawks win seeing as it's almost been 50 years since they won one. I always liked them as a kid anyway.
