Free Fallout on GameTap & GameTap's Future

GameTap has word that they've added Fallout 2 and Stand O'Food as new premium games to their online gaming service, and in anticipation of the imminent release of Fallout 3, they've added the original Fallout as a free game. Also, following up on yesterday's news that GameTap has partnered with Metaboli (story) Variety.com has a brief Q&A on the move with Metaboli CEO Pierre Gaudet, who will be in charge of the whole shebang. Word is that Turner basically gave GameTap to Metaboli in hopes that a sizable minority share in the merged entity will turn out to be worth more than GameTap is now. He also says going forward the GameTap/Metaboli partnership will offer more download to own games (he uses the term "baby iTunes" for games) and more branded partnerships with third parties, which apparently are a bigger part of Metaboli's business than subscribers.

	I can't get the high-res patch for Fallout 1 to work. I followed the installation instructions and it said the Fallout executable (US 1.1) was patched successfully. Even tried modifying the resolution settings in the .ini file but I'm stuck on 640 x 480 x 8bpp. Any suggestions? Running Windows XP SP3.

	Is there a HIGH RES MOD FOR DIABLO 1 and 2? Yes. It's called "Titan Quest".

	If anyone still has a beta invite send it my way, I've been chomping at the bit to get ahold of the Fallout series and play it on XP, along with several other games that they may have.

	Thats great, I will bust out the game and play the high res mod, had no idea this was available. Yes i bought the friggin games, in their big boxes and also the simple sleave version that fry's sold for $10. Is there a HIGH RES MOD FOR DIABLO 1 and 2?

	There used to be a modified file you could download and it would have every weapon in the game stored in the second little city you come to in fallout 2. They would be stashed in all the lockers around the map. Does anybody know what this mod was called or where to get it? That was my favorite - going around the cities and just blowing everyone away

	The boards at gog also list which mods work, and gamers that post there are great with helping to get stuff working. I was going to mention those boards, but I didn't know if Overon (much less anyone else wanting high-res mods) was in the GOG beta and therefore able to access those boards.

	Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 are no doubt great games. But my eyeballs blead at the 640x480 graphics on a widescreen lcd. There are high-res mods for both of them on NMA. 	Got Fallout and Fallout 2 from gog.com a few weeks ago for $5.99, total. A benefit of being an early beta registrar is they have a buy-1-get-1-free promo. Pretty sweet deal, even for someone who owns the original Fallout.

	You don't have to pay for anything to access Gametap's free games. Perhaps you didn't follow instructions or read it correctly.
