It's both. Already owning a PS3, the only Blu-Ray movie I've bought is Blade Runner Final Cut suitcase set. Iron Man will probably be the next.
But I'm not going to go re-buying all the movies I already have on DVD at $25+ a pop, most usually don't even have the same extra features as the DVD's.
Get the hardware price down, software to sub $20 price point and include all the features from previous DVD releases, even if they aren't HD, then people will start buying more.

The problem isn't the price of the player. It's retail outlets like Circuit City, Best Buy, and Walmart charging $25-$35 per movie.
