Well yesterday was interesting. Two guys spent most of the
afternoon destroying the walkway in front of our door with jackhammers. It's pretty
safe to say I have never spent nearly this much time nearly this close to such
an activity. You may not be surprised to hear that after a while it gets pretty
m-m-maddening. What's wild is that they haven't yet cleared away any of the
rubble, so it looks a little like a bomb exploded in front of our door.

It's part of the sidewalk project -- the new sidewalks are about three inches higher than the old ones, so now they need to create a slope leading back to our porch, rather than a cliff... That ought to make a nice swimming pool when it rains Let's hope they raise your walkway as well.
On another note: Is it government workers or contractors? In my neck of the woods (the west coast) we had a crew of contractors replacing a bunch of curb sections earlier this year. It took them 2 days. A month ago, some city workers started work on replacing the curbs around an alley outlet, 5 separate working days, and it's still -- not -- done. I have nothing against govt workers, but that's just silly.

Speaking of concrete, what if anything ever happened with your basement drainage issue, Blue?
Like The Russian on The Sopranos, Blue likes to leave a few things up in the air.

Is it me or should all episodes of Heroes be 2 hours long? My poor DVR was going nuts trying to record all the shows that started last night

Heh. We had the apartment steps redone with bluestone tops, all parking spots for all tenants properly leveled and paved (for those that were dirt spots), and we have an extended patio. All very nice.
Now, if only the interior of the apartment house/building could be worked on as easily...
