    /Put on your tinfoil hat:
Someone could drive down your street and have a device that showed everything in your house with an RFID tag.
Yeah, that's definitely tinfoil hat.

"In general, low-frequency tags are read from a foot (0.33 meter) or less. High-frequency tags are read from about three feet (1 meter)."

So unless they are driving through your house, I think you'll be fine.

at some point you probably will have very limited options if you do not want a RFID credit or debit card.
Hey, that sounds great!!! Less options for CC is a good thing! The less I use credit cards the better!

I think i'll stay the hell away from RFID crap.

heh, good luck with that. If you're from US or UK your current or next passport will be RFID, and at some point you probably will have very limited options if you do not want a RFID credit or debit card.
There are already wallets on the market for your passport and other items that will block transmission of the RFID information.

I will be interested to see if that RFID cc or debit would ever fly....but lobbyists accomplish amazing things. hehehehehe

You can fix that very easily with a rubber mallet.

I think the bigger issue is that an RFID can be linked to purchases which can be linked to you.

/Put on your tinfoil hat:
Someone could drive down your street and have a device that showed everything in your house with an RFID tag. If they were embedded into your credit cards (cell phones, check cards, shoes, car, etc etc etc), then you could be tracked in every store you went into that had the reader attached to the openings of the buildings. The "system" could know where you are or where you have been at all times.
//take off tinfoil hat

Cool technology, not cool how it can be (and is being) used. I already don't like the whole passport thing. Although there are ways to kill the chip - which will slow your progress through any and all lines at the airport when it doesn't work.

My dogs don't mind.

Problem is that it's not up to us, it's up to companies wether they will implement this for security, payment or anything else for physical identification.
Now it's unclear wether this technology is merely insecure, which is bad, or also dangerous to my health, which is worse.
I guess my next pocket calculator will be a Casio, or are they also involved?

I think i'll stay the hell away from RFID crap. When someone trys to look closer into it and everyone circles the wagons and tells them to get away I think it's safe to stay far away from this kind of thing.

And if you believe that, your corporate masters would like to know if you want another line of credit to buy that new sexy iMac you've always wanted. Low 24% APR financing is available and be sure to make the minimum monthly payments. Sorry, but based on your income and credit history it's the best they can offer.
