S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Delay

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky will be delayed "a few days" from its expected release on September 5. We've gotten indications about this and attempted to get a confirmation from GSC Game World, and while we received no reply, Shacknews confirmed the delay with publisher Deep Silver. What we can add is a report we got from a retailer who says the boxes were recalled from the distributer when it was discovered they did not contain CD keys.

Well, kudos to them on catching the problem and fixing it. I still hate waiting though.

Yes, well they didn't subtitle everything in the first game, hence you lost a lot.

This game will give them some extra cash flow, and then fallout 3 hits the store shelves and will buy GSC time.

hopefully they will use a totally new engine next time around.

PCGamer UK gave it in the region of 70%, largely stating that whilst it's fixed up any problems with S.T.A.L.K.E.R., it's lost its character in the process and the whole game reeks of 'the same'.

PCZone gave it 88% on the otherhand.

The ONLY thing I want done versus the first game is to have all dialogue translated to English. It really bummed me out that only the "important" stuff was translated and all that work they did on the rest was totally lost on me as they muttered to themselves in Russian. I've heard from those who understand it there was some great stuff there.

I never had any serious issue with bugs in Stalker. I thought it was the greatest single-player experience I'd ever had on a PC. And I'm glad they're taking extra time to make sure their product is well-received.

" The game was just seriously buggy."

That's your experience, i never had a problem. People generalize and assume everyone had a problem with this game. Fact is a select few did, the majority of folks had no issues with the game other than balance problems (weapons mostly).

This better not affect the Steam release, as I was already annoyed when it was delayed from the 29th of August to the 6th of September. I've been waiting for this game for so long.

CPU upgrade? Check. Graphics upgrade? Not sure. I can wait for DX11 or grab a second 4870 now... or do both. Hmmm. Sunny

Problems have nothing to do with overclocking. I don't overclock at all. The game was just seriously buggy.

Played the game day one for 1 week, solved it. Not one crash or bug. play balance issues, yes, but stable as can be.

Might want to see if you are overclocking, that could be the issue.

Hopefully this time the game will remain stable for more than 10 minutes, I loved the first game but dear god it was a buggy piece of shit in many ways too.

Kinda makes you feel bad for GSC - this appears to be entirely a distributor/manufacturing mistake, and out of their control.

I was planning to take Friday the 5th off to play it, ah well.

DRM FTW once again.

What's actually new about Clear Sky? Graphical overhaul? Vehicles? Something other than endless trudging around an annoying world?

well if its just a physical card with a CD key, then digital distribution wouldnt be affected.. unless there is some sort of mutual release agreement
