Stardock has announced plans to expand
Sins of a Solar Empire before
the end of this year with an expansion called Entrenchment, reports
Joystiq. There's not much detail on the space strategy add-on, which will
presumably be rather small based on its $9.99 price tag. Here's word:
""Entrenchment promises to bring fans a Starbase defense platform for each race
(extremely powerful and armored bases housing a variety of weapons and other
upgrades capable of defending an entire planet), turret upgrades for each race
to make them more powerful mine fields and a Subspace Inhibitor platform that
will slow enemy ships within its range." In related news, there's
a Q&A with
Stardock's Brad Wardell and Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor on Gamasutra
with an in-depth discussion of the new Impulse platform, and the future of game
publishing. They also mention the new "gamer's bill of rights," reproduced in
the next story.

With the amount of content in the free updates Stardock and Ironclad have been releasing, it seems a little petty to complain about a ten dollar optional booster pack. It would be different if this was a multiplayer only game in which you have to be using the latest version in order to playing online. That is not the case. I will wait and see what the full content of this booster pack is before deciding whether to purchase. |

What was your first clue? The price tag? ironically, yes. i didn't bother with the whole press release when i was hoping for a campaign. Still, it's not like it's never been done before at that price point.

I'll buy this ASAP. Turtling could be fun in this game. It'll be nice to have more options.
People whining about ten bucks for some more stuff in an already enjoyable game should go put their tampons on. Game producers have to eat and pay bills also, so just STFU. Please.

Maybe, but considering everything they've been adding and changing based on community feedback in the free patches, and the fact that this expansion will add a bunch of stuff that people have been begging for since the game was released, I think it's worth ten bucks. The weak ass planetary defenses were a major issue for a lot of people. It was just too easy to roll over them, especially on big maps. Hopefully this will change that.

Dear Stardock,
Why are you doing this to us YOU PIECES OF SHIT! We deserve better than this. In a move straight from the EA "fuck the customer" model, instead of getting 3 or 4 quality expansions for about $20 each, all we get are these fucking "micro updates". I'm done with this game, Stardock, and that piece of shit they call "Impulse II". FUCK YOU STARDOCK, YOU'RE NO BETTER THAN EA NOW. ASSHOLES.

"Wow, we get 3 new turrets and it only costs 10 dollars." Didn't it say starbase's, mines, upgradable turrets, new turrets, Subspace Inhibitor platform & more.

the campaign is one of the things they want to address, supposedly, although how soon that'll happen is anyone's guess.
Overall I think this is a neat game but being a single-player only kinda guy (skirmish - really couldn't care less about a campaign), playing vs. the AI wasn't enough to hold my interest for very long.

i hope they add a single-player campaign with a story... (like Balance of Power did for XvT) that would make this amazing game even better.

Wow, we get 3 new turrets and it only costs 10 dollars. That was my concern also. I have no problem buying additional content, provided the amount of content is worth the price.
Obviously, that's opinion based (one person's "deal" is another person's "they're nikel and diming us"), but seeing as StarDock has yet to disappoint me, I'm hoping for the best.

which will presumably be rather small based on its $9.999 price tag Anyone else read that as $9,999.00 for a split second? I did a funny double take there for a moment.
