On Full Throttle's Throttled Sequels

The rise and fall of Full Throttle on Adventure Classic Gaming sits down with Bill Tiller to get the full story behind Full Throttle: Payback and Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels, two sequels to LucasArts'  biker-themed adventure game that were each cancelled before seeing the light of day. The article discusses what there is to know about the projects, changes in corporate culture at LucasArts over the years, the frustration the development teams experienced due the games being axed, and more.

When Full Throttle came out - it was well ahead of it's time. Fun game.

The cause of all these evils was the lust for power arising from greed and ambition; and from these passions proceeded the violence of parties once engaged in contention.
In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.

When Bill Tiller talks about the "significantly influental person" who sabotaged the work of the original team on the sequel for the simple reason that they didnt like the story, I wonder if he is talking about Lucas....Im betting he is....sounds exactly like something he would do....

I have a nifty blue line!

adventure games used to be as popular as FPS are now

i might be in the minority, but i was really dissapointed when sierra took the text parser out of their games and made them icon based

all those early 'Quest' games were how i learned how to type

used to have some weird and super easy copy protection back in the day too.. you would have to answer questions using the manual

with 'Wasteland', they gave you a whole book of paragraphs.. and a different points in the game it would tell you to read paragraph X on page Y .. a buddy of mine copied the game onto some floppies and photocopied the book for me

i started early on destroying the game industry
