"It's because that is the CLASSIC console gameplay, you know? Monsters that drop health orbs, so you have to run over it. Also, they're going to disappear really really fucking fast, so instead of being able to do some strategery, you just kind of have to button mash and run around like mad just trying to keep your health up! It's what the mouthbreather horde really likes!"
Diablo 3 is going to be so fucking awesome! I dunno. I thought his explanation made sense. The real test will be to see if it translates into fun gameplay. He had a point about the one-shotting monsters. I can see it being more interesting to have to focus more on movement and avoidance of damage and picking up powerups rather than just whacking away at the monster while repeatedly mashing your potion keys. Depends on the way the monsters behave really.

Can't expect them to retexture the game. They don't have to retexture the whole game. They should just retexture the characters. They have several months left before the game ships so I think it would be plausible to at least retexture the main characters.

Instead, groups of enemies will drop health orbs that instantly restore lost hit points and disappear if not collected within a set time. Wilson described why this decision was made.

The textures in the GTA4 PC shots still look blurry and low-res. Still looks better than the console versions, and the view distance is much better too. The blur that kinda took over the game seems to be absent from the screenshots as well.
The textures never had much detail in them, even at high res, none of the GTA games have. Can't expect them to retexture the game.
