Sims 3 in February

MCV has word from the Leipzig Game Convention on the release date for The Sims 3, the next installment in the lifestyle simulation. They say EA announced February 20, 2009 as the release date for both the standard edition as well as a collector's edition that will feature an exclusive sports car as well as other bonuses.

The Sims 3 will feature a new option called "Metamorphosis". Once unlocked this ability will transform your Sim into a ball of energy with omnipotent powers. From here you can take you Sim in space and destroy planets, or return to Planet Earth and destroy your house. According to Epic Games, "The Unreal 4 Engine allows us to translate the destruction of your home in-game into the real world." Several governmental officials have stated, "This is clearly a ELE that should be taken seriously." Responding to accusations of Armageddon-like similarities found in The Sims 3, Will Wright, founder of Maxis, said, "If players would like to destroy their home who am I to keep them from doing so? Or if they'd like to blow-up their neighbors we empower them with the tools to do such. I make sandboxes. I have no control over how deadly the sand is in that sandbox."

eep!

Oh be still my beating heart.

Well, once I'm done with Spore, it seems I'll have something else.

Yeah, the Sims games have a ridiculous amount of expansions, but the base games have always been a guilty pleasure for me. Building houses/apartments, sending sims to their doom....there's a good amount of fun to be had in the base games without any expansions, especially when the games are easy to find for $20 or so.

Sims 3 sounds promising from the GFW Magazine preview....in their last issue.....*cries*

More focus on giving the hardcore gamers things to do, no excessive micro management of pissing and bathing. I had no idea this was coming so soon, hopefully it turns out decent.

Kinda surprised the first expansion pack wasn't announced alongside the base game.

When is the first expansion pack going to be released? Hopefully, a few seconds after Sims3 is launched!
