TBH, most of the Bioware games ive played have been ok diversions.. but definitely not the earth shattering badness that all the fanboys talk about .. Jade Empire was fucking disgusting to me, they took a shit on some things that i personally hold dear (next up: bethesda)
even the original Kotor and all that.. it was "ok"
so no, not exactly holding my breath for this bullshit
now, Divinity 2? thats got potential |

Yeah, Biowares tools are not meant for the average gamer. Hence the lack of good adventures.

Yeah. NWN was the biggest let down for me ever. It's like they got rid of everything that made Baldur's gate great and made a techdemo for a toolset. Yeah, and sadly it was still a lot better than 90%+ of the rest of the "RPGs" out there.
99% of console games have about as much depth as a puddle of dog urine. If Microsoft was serious about Games for Windows, that would be their slogan

I think Bioware is wholly overrated. Their last great game was Baldur's Gate 2. Everything else was merely decent. Their biggest problem is that their games are all essentially the same. Same character archetypes, same barren, lifeless environments, same stupid AI, same cliche storyline... I'm hoping Dragon Age will deviate from this formula. Yeah. Beyond that.. you must be a kid cause you should know when it comes to bioware.. their games don't always look 'top of the line' but the gameplay is better then any other game out there.. at least their PC games are. Ummm... fanboi much? It doesn't surprise me that the quality of games is sinking lower and lower with attitudes of simpletons like you who think that the generic crap that BioWare keeps pumping out is the pinnacle of gaming. |

I don't like the wording in that statement. Does that mean that creating new locations from scratch isn't possible with the editor ?
The Witcher was the same, requiring you to have 3D Studio just to make a new location. I doubt any game design toolset these days has integrated 3D modelling, considering how many polys they throw around lately. Even with landscape, which used to be - not sure if it still is feasible with the kind of quality level devs want.
What I dont get is how they give you like a tinker-toy set to make areas and NPCs and so forth, but then expect you to do raw C+ scripting to make the gaming part actually work. Its bullshit, IMO - come on, with the lame ass types of side quests they give you.. It could easily come from a set of "logic blocks" like LEGOs made from peices of script. Thats where they get lazy - if they really wanted to make these tools accessible - make them useful all the way around. How difficult is it to set up some entity parameters, simple "IF/THEN" and "AND/OR" switches, etc etc?
Im not a programmer but I know these kinds of things can be done easily, and made to work well. Thats why I always considered NWN basically a failure - the tools are great from a mid-level perspective.. but they still suck if you are an end user that wants to make a RPG adventure. |

Adam Miller has long been planning a Dragon Age campaign, so having a toolset means he can make one.

Lol I wouldn't say it looks shitty, but I suspect it's not quite what it will look like at release.
Also it's BG3 basically, though of their own IP. The toolset is great news. NWNs toolset was fantastic but not very powerful. NWN2's toolset was very powerful but much less user friendly. Hopefully DA's will be very powerful as well as very user friendly.
Beyond that.. you must be a kid cause you should know when it comes to bioware.. their games don't always look 'top of the line' but the gameplay is better then any other game out there.. at least their PC games are.
I know today gaming (mostly console gaming,) is all about how awesome the graphics are and gameplay be damned. Thats why 99% of console games have about as much depth as a puddle of dog urine. But the best games rarely have the best graphics.

This seems to be the WRPG I've been waiting for for many, many years. I mean sure the Witcher was awesome, but this is fucking Bioware.
