Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Trailer

The second in a series of four new movies showing off Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is now on the information superhighway. This "roll call" clip features narration from Randy Pitchford and other developers from Gearbox discussing the story of the upcoming World War II shooter. They discuss character development and storytelling and the emphasis being placed on the emotional impact of losing squad mates during the game's battles, both on the player, and his Sergeant Baker character. In-game footage is included, but this is mostly depictions of characters from the game. The clip can be found on ActionTrip, AtomicGamer, and FileFront.

3. Great video Aug 5, 2008, 23:04 Techie714 ©

The video was fantastic in fact I think more studios should release videos like that. But will all that great story telling & tension translate into a fun game? I was not to impressed with the graphics but that's a minor issue.

I feel sorry for Pitchford, assuming the PR dudes made him get thair haircut. In any case, they DID stick him in that moody lighting in front of a camera when everyone knows the proper place for developers is floating in the audio space, their disembodied voice narrating the game from a script they are obviously reciting word by word without any effort to make it sound natural.

Well, maybe that's not the best option. There's really no good way to present a game if you don't have smooth talking developers, really. PR people sound fake and the devs have no idea how to present stuff. Your only option is to get someone savvy to do it or get someone so interesting (IMHO Carmack, although I think many people would disagree) that it doesn't matter that the guy has no idea how to make himself sound interesting.
