Preorder WAR, Gain Beta Access & Other Bonuses

IGN reports that preorders are now underway for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, outlining a number of bonuses for those willing to buy before they try the Warhammer MMORPG. Those who preorder will gain access to the game's beta test as well as exclusive in-game items. Additionally, preorder customers will get a head-start on the live game, though it's not specified how much time they will have before the game's official launch to build up their characters.

No they didn't cut 60% of the end game content. That is total BS.

Capital cities were just a small part of the end game world pvp, and were supposed to be the culmination of months of effort to push the war to the door steps of your enemy. There are still 6 tier 4 fortresses, and at least 6 tier 4 keeps to fight over, and 3 warfronts with tons of battle objectives. This is where the world pvp happens, and none of it has been scaled back. The capital city is only a instance pvp + pve encounter to let you raid the king.

Also, you must control 2 out of 3 warfronts to be able to siege the capital cities, so yes there is still war all around and every faction is just as important.

And, there are still 24+ instance scenarios to play in the end game, so fuck no, they did not just cut 60% of the endgame.

Order from gamestop.com. Do not cancel your pre-order. If you don't like the game when you play the beta, just return the un-opened box to your local store.

It's not free at all. If it follows the standard once you pre-order and get into beta you CANNOT cancel that pre-order. So in the end you pay for the game whether you find it fun or not. This is what happened to me with Hellgate. All signs pointed to a killer game. What I got was a buggy piece of junk that I payed $50 to shelve.

And 60% of end game content.. exactly. There were 6 end game siege cities. These cities were the hubs for each race with NPCs and kings and leaders and all the lore and once you got so far you could lay siege to them (in an instance,) and take them over. This was the end game PvP. This is a PvP game so the vast majority of end game content will be PvP based, and the end game content are these cities. 4 of 6 were cut so yes, 60% of end game content was cut.

Not only that but each city was the hub of their faction with quests and vendors and all the stuff you'd expect to find in each factions hub. Now for 4 factions they don't exist.

On top of that Mythic has said they aren't planning on putting them back in right away and when they do they aren't going to open the game up to each faction being able to siege an enemy city, but rather they will cycle which city each side 'good' or 'bad' gets to siege. There AREN'T 6 different factions now because theres no point to the war between them. Now it's all factions join a 'good' or 'bad' team and work towards being able to enter and instance and 'take over' a city for a few days before it resets back to normal, that way it stays fair and nice for everyone.

Now having something pulled so they can make the release easier is common. SWG pulled vehicles and player cities. AoC pulled drunken brawling (though a lot of other stuff was incomplete, if not pulled.) But to pull 4 of the 6 cities in the entire game, and what was probably loads of content for each faction, not to mention the lore that has to be altered for this. That screams to me desperation. You don't pull 60% of end game content just because 'oh they aren't quite polished enough for our september launch.' Not when your about to end a delay that's been almost a year in the making and the excuse for it was 'we need to polish the remaining zones.' CLEARLY that wasn't the truth.

Bitch all you want... but if you think about it, this is a free means of trying the game before you buy it.

Also, where can I read about them axing 60% of the end-game content? So far I've heard of a few classes and 4 cities going. Neither of those really translate to end-game (I'm not saying they DIDN'T cut, it's just I haven't read about it).

Just on schedule, release pre-order that lets you into beta. Just like EQ2 and Hellgate: London.

Omg this game is gonna be a train wreck.

And yea, they didn't cut 60% of the content. Just 60% of the end game content. Not that the other 30% is going to work for shit at release either.

Last read the fine print. This isn't access to beta, but access to OPEN BETA. Big difference.

My question is: if you preorder, when do you actually gain access to beta?

so the dev wants gamers to pay first to get the privilege of beta testing the game for them? where do i sign up?
Though it's easy to adopt a gloomy outlook of Mythic's next game, the truth is we've never seen a more polished pre-release MMO.
- Gamespy, E3 2008 Preview

They cut content for a reason.

That was before the 60% content cut.
cuz 4 / 24 classes = 60% right?
And 4 cities / (6 cities + 6 tier 4 keeps + 6 tier 3 keeps + 6 tier 2 keeps + all the remaining open world RVR + 30 instanced battle grounds + dozens of zones + a ridiculous amount of PVE) = 60% right?

If you took out 4 capital cities in WoW i wouldn't even notice. QQs over the cut content is some of the most ridiculous whining that I've ever heard.

Actually I did know better. I knew the developers were directly quoted saying that CE edition was the only edition that would get into open beta. That was before the 60% content cut.

Maybe you should do more research kiddie. Ive been to that website many times as well as read dev posts in various forums and interviews.

Heh, EB told me they would give me the codes when the game shipped. (Which is idiotic, considering the codes are for access BEFORE the game ships.) I ordered from Go-Gamer instead.

EBGames is trying to screw me out of my codes as we speak. Pre-ordered two copies of the CE and they are trying to give me only one set of codes.

Mythic should expect mobs of angry gamers to storm their offices armed with pewter axes!

rofl way to fuck over the CE preorders
Bah, CE still packs a bunch of stuff. If you bought CE solely for the purpose of early access, you should have known better.
