I only bought the first two seasons on DVD, because IMO the show started going downhill when they killed off deep throat ...

Answer: Chris Carter

Douchebag: David Duchovny

Duchovny did not help, but the series' inability to move past Mulder really stuck it in a bizarre, pointless rut.

I honestly think Doggett and even that idiot Reyes could have experienced some type of success if they had been able to do and become their own thing. Alas, they were stuff searching for Mulder, the non-sensical baby plot, and flimsy post-movie alien plots.
Just look at this latest movie - this is all Carter could think of.

I agree, but I think it is the trend in society as well as some speciial micro-mechanics for this film.

As already noted, this series previously went heavily toward the camp side of things and the series was eventually hurt by this. Additionally, this current movie is borrowing heavily from The Dark Knight comic version of Batman and that comic is highly regarded in many ways, especially for its tone.

Otherwise, from a broader viewpoint, I think society is back to watching darker films. There are numerous reasons for this and, like usual, films will eventually go too far and, along with social mechanics, society will swing back to more family-friendly or comedic movies.
You have me confused. Did it suck? Did you like it? Is this really about Batman?
Old :(,
Ray

So I just saw the Dark Knight, and whilst it was good, I'm definitely concerned with where it's going. Like every other second superhero flick, the emphasis seems to be more on the toys are taking the story over the top so it's bigger and better than the last, when it not only doesn't ned to be, but shouldn't be going that way. What's next a song and dance number for Bruce Wayne in the next picture ala Spidey 3?

Hollywood needs to remember that restarting the franchises and keeping them simple and down to earth (Bats, Supes, Spidey, Bond, et al.) is what makes them successful in the first place. K.I.S.S! It's not about the toys and far-fetched action sequences. It's about the story, the frailities and foiables of the characters involved.

Heath was definitely the best part of the film. I don't know it if was really Oscar worthy, but it was pretty damn good anyway you slice it - no pun intended. The way the franchise seems to be going, I won't be surpised if the 3rd installment sucks ala Spidey 3 and the franchise tanks once again. And yet, the boneheads in Hollywood will still wonder why.

and it looks like something out of Hostel now instead of a comic book.
For some reason it won't play in FF3 or IE7 for me...I'll just have to take your word that it continues to suck.

But thank you!
