WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Closed Beta Beginning

Blizzplanet has word that closed beta testing for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is about to get underway. They have word on what potential testers should expect as far as receiving beta key email and when things should get underway. They also have patch notes for the beta client, which are likely to be of interest even to those not involved in the test.

why is it that the same fps map can be played 100 times and still be fun
For the same reason WOW BGs can be fun. PVP will ALWAYS be more fun than PVE stuff. Some of my guildmates recently tried PVP and they're hooked.

I've been a bit /meh on it, though I expected to purchase it to continue raiding. Having said that, now that I've looked through some of the screenshots, it does appear that Blizzard is trying to do some new things. If they make the same changes to the rest of the game that they make to the environment, it could actually be fun.

On your end, the trees are definitely getting some love and the mages are *reported* as being improved (you'll finally beat the 'locks at AoE,) but the mage changes/improvements are very slim compared to those of the other classes. As usual, Blizzard has a %$@#% love fest for all things warlock or shaman.

My main toon is a rogue that I love and hate. I really likle the toon, but I absolutely hate Blizzard for how it's treating the class (along with its generally sh*t customer support.) Realize that I do not PvP at all (I landed my first kill about two months ago and only got enough honor for the trinket which is needed in raiding) and I'm only here to raid/PvE. Because of how Blizzard shoved PvP into the game, my class issues are routinely ignored or disregarded because of the PvP issue. I really don't undrestand why Blizzard will make some rules different for PvP and PvE, but not others. My DPS to versatiliy to functionality ratios are extremely out of wack with all the other classes (though your mage comes very close to a similar situation - you're a mini warlock.)

For all other classes, things are looking very nice and quite fun to play. There are some bigger core issues with WoW, but a lot of it is due to how Blizzard originally created the game, how it made WoW prior to learning a number of lessons, and how the game was never originally built with numerous ideas in mind. I think The Burning Crusade really helped with this - there is kind of something for everybody - and I hope (I'm curious to see?) if they continue this with WotLK.

I really do enjoy WoW and, though I doubt it will happen, I kind of hope Blizzard will go back and revamp the game to fix or adjust certain things (or even just to make it equal on all lands/continents.) Blizzard has no reason to, it has already made a ton of money from this game, but it could make the game last for an utterly ridiculous period of time if it would go back and do this. They've already talked about redoing all the graphics (later, not in WotLK) and they've thrown out some ideas for other aspects of the old game...but I'm probably still hoping.

More than anything, I'm curious to see what Blizzard does next. It's learned a huge amount from WoW and, again, so many issues are related to now knowing about or planning for things in advance. As big as WoW is, Blizzard has a chance to reach even higher levels if it properly applies everything it's learned from WoW at the start of their new MMOG.

Blah blah blah...I knew I would get WotLK period for the raiding (a completely separate section of the game,) but I am starting to get more interested and intrigued in it.
Warlocks can go to hell. Cocky, OP jerks.

ive been watching videos and checking out tallents and spells for the 2 classes that i play, druid(exclusivly for heals) and mage. im not realy sure that im gonna get this xp. my guild is all friends from my area and if they all get it then i probably will too, but it just seems kinda flat.

ive given up on age of conan too. i dont quite get why the mmo world cant get its head around the idea that there needs to be stuff to do at the end of the lvling process.

why is it that the same fps map can be played 100 times and still be fun, i must have played 2for4 at least that many times on q1 team fortress. why cant an mmo just be a game that's cool, but lots of ppl can play at once? instead of an "mmo world" with few things to do?

What the hell is this crap? We ALREADY know that closed beta testing is about to get underway. Tell us something we don't know! The other information is stuff you can get from the Wrath website.

And me with no working computer. Sigh.

I'll probably give my beta key to my mom, she really wants in and she plays more than I can nowadays, what with being retired.

for those who dont know, mmo-champion.com has a large update today about all of this. the nda has been lifted, so the info should come in buckets over the next few days. they have loot from dungeons, lots of screens, and updated talent trees.
