The E3 trailer for Spore offers a narrated introduction to EA Maxis' upcoming
life simulation, clearly indicating that intelligent design, rather than
evolution is at work in this game. The movie is posted on
Gamer's Hell and
MyGameTrailers.

Well... Spore *is* specifically about intelligent design... as in, you're guiding the evolution of the creatures. There's no 'millions of generations of trial and error' here... this is not artificial life. It's a god-game sandbox, just like the Sims, Sim City, Sim Ants, and all the other Maxis games back into the past.
You are in the role of interfering god-being. But it's not a political statement as far as I know... it's just the way the game works, and I don't think they're trying to pass it off as allegory for how the world works. |

So basically, they're conceeding that this is a marketing move as it wouldn't sell in 'those' southern US states who are teaching ID over evolution...

Hahah but it does take a creative mind to give it features that will help it hunt and survive.

Hopefully the player has some intelligence for that is whom they are referring to.
It looks like it will be a very fun game BTW.
