Half-Life 2 Science & Industry 2

The first release of the Science & Industry 2 modification for Half-Life 2 is now available (thanks Ant and Planet Half-Life). The download is available on the Science and Industry 2 Website, where they are quick to point out that this is a preliminary version of the mod, even though it carries a 1.0 version number.

The original was ok but there were never enough people playing it. Played the original at a few lan parties but I dont think i'll be downloading this new one.

I rememebr CS beta 1 - that was an early "mansion" if I remember.

It was stupid of them to brand it 1.0...

Counter Strike took 10 marked revisions before it reached 1.0 - I remember Beta 1 being largely unplayable.

i have been a played of S&I since 1999, just play S&I first version instead for right now, the S&I2 version is very very very unfinished and basically unplayable. all player models have no animations. its a shame i think this will deter the player base for the game, tons of people are a fan of the mod secretly but this will put off a lot of new playerrs

Looks terrible. I remember the original and had great fun with it but this looks much more amateur. The level design is terrible in comparison to other Source games - heck, I've actually made better levels than this. It's a real shame that the modding scene for HL2 is pathetic in comparison to the original Half-Life... no new DODs or CSs.

CPU upgrade? Check. Graphics upgrade? Not sure. I can wait for DX11 or grab a second 4870 now... or do both. Hmmm. Sunny

Definitely a very, very, very early release.

Hm. Is there a point to playing it now, then, or no?

I'm never too much on listening to what people think on forums, try it and see if you like it.

My LAN Party group played it for a while, but wasn't as big as CS or Action half-life when it came to Mods

I remember S&I for the original Half-life. I played it for 5 minutes and promptly went back to HLDM.

Memories though. Memories.

As I recall, it wasn't all that popular back then either so I'm surprised they made a new one.
