OK. I upgraded and tried. I think I only got 1-3 FPS more than before.
Hey, if you only got 5 to begin with, that's pretty good!
It sucks whenever a big "future benchmark" game comes out (ie, Crysis), because for the next three months, the only thing a new drivers does is "increases FPS IN CRYSIS OMFHG!1!1!1!!!!"
That it also inevitable breaks about 20% of you old catalog of games, ah, who cares. We need a bigger number in that benchmark!

The last drivers hosed my system good. I had game crashes stutters the whole deal with my 7800gt sli rig. I'm sworn off beta's for a while after that nightmare.

Coolone: Short answer, you are supposed to get drivers for mobile graphics cards from your laptop maker.
Most of the time it works just fine to get hacked inf files and use the normal nvidia drivers with the new inf files (someone linked the site for these)
As for why, short answer is economics (and its both nvidia and ATI doing this), they give laptop makers discounts if the laptop ppl do all the support and drivers. Theres other factors too but thats the main one
And yeah, I know there were 1 or 2 nvidia driver releases for a limited range of nvidia mobile graphics cards, but they are an exception. This message was edited at Oct 30, 23:33. |

Interesting. Actual FPS improvements. Is everyone getting Crysis improvements? Maybe I should install it for my GeForce 7950GT KO. I will do that when I am going to play some more Crysis. I don't feel like doing it now and breaking something (just in case). |

No complaints here. Not had any problems with any of the beta drivers from nVidia ever. As long as they are stable, I'm good with frequent updates! As a cost I'll take the chance of an occasional game breaking here and there as long as they fix it in the next beta.

None other than a short explanation in the 169 series betas at least that I can find any where.
I gained about 4 FPS from 169.02 to 169.04 running the Crysis gpu.bat bench in XP 32 with tweaked cfg on very high settings.

And update the GeForce 7 Go drivers already dammit, it's been over a year for those You're going to be waiting forever if you want official drivers. What you want to do is download whatever geforce 7 series drivers you want (this beta, the latest stable, whatever), then go to laptopvideo2go.com and download the modded inf file for your driver version and OS. They have a modded inf file for just about every driver and OS combination you can think of.
Actually you should probably download the driver itself from laptopvideo2go.com as well as the modded inf... they distribute the driver as a .zip instead of an .exe so its more easily modable.
