Strategy First announces they've signed on with Valve's Steam network for
future game distribution: Strategy First Signs With Steam For Game
Distribution
Strategy First, the publisher of PC games such as Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns and
Galactic Civilization, has signed up with Valve to distribute future games on
the company's Steam digital distribution service. The deal will cover multiple
forthcoming PC games, including Strategy First's next title, naval combat title
S.C.S. - Dangerous Waters, due for release this month.
The move represents the first step Strategy First has taken to rebuild U.S.
distribution channels since its bankruptcy in 2004. Earlier in the year, the
developer, now owned by Silverstar Holdings, partnered with Lago srl for
European distribution, but had announced no plans for the American market until
now.
"Digital distribution is an exciting, effortless and dynamic delivery method to
bring Games and Gamers together in a real-time experience," said Strategy First
product manager Emanuel Wall. "We are excited to be working with Valve and the
opportunity to bring our top quality titles to their Steam delivery platform. We
believe Valve's delivery system is one of the best methods of connecting gamers
to top software titles as do millions of gamers worldwide. We believe our robust
portfolio of gaming titles coupled with Valve's recognized market acceptance are
a winning combination for both parties and gamers alike."

Uh, SF are one of the most abysmal publishers out there, churning out overhyped under-tested crap, and boning the few dev companies that actually produce good games for them.

This has no impact on GalCiv II as we're self-publishing it - Strategy First has nothing to do with its release.
If people are interested in Galactic Civilizations I or the good SF games that were released years ago, they're available on TotalGaming.net _without_ DRM nonsense - along with GalCiv II.

Riley, I doubt you even play games. What you doubt or any of your other moronic thoughts for that matter are irrelevant to me.
Maybe I should berate you to death. That would certainly spare everyone from the drivel you post.

Hmm, wonder what this'll do to the GalCiv2 release. Was SF still going to publish it? I know Stardock has their own online distribution system, I doubt they'd be happy having to switch to Steam.

I am too busy playing good games without the burdens, restrictions, problems, and expenses of Steam to care.
Riley, I doubt you even play games. You make so many asinine statements that it makes me wonder if you even know how to enjoy a pleasure, rather than berate it to death.

It is odd to see a publisher going to a developer to distribute their games though. Desperation can make for some strange bedfellows. Plus, the fact that Valve is a popular whore seals the deal.

This could mean Jagged Alliance 2 getting a Steam release.
It is odd to see a publisher going to a developer to distribute their games though.

What a shock. A sh*tty game delivery system will now serve up some real crap for games (as if Rag Doll Kung Fuckup wasn't enough). Enjoy. I am too busy playing good games without the burdens, restrictions, problems, and expenses of Steam to care.
As for the future of Steam, you'll know its demise is near when Valve has to resort to signing up more of these "quality" game publishers like Valusoft. Of course I am sure most of you Steam lackeys can't wait to buy rent great titles like "Big Rigs Over The Road Racing" and "Codename Nina."

I can't believe that Valve would stoop this low.

Oh come on...you can't tell me you don't like seeing Undead Scotsman join in mortal kombat with Pizt...speaking of which, where is Undead? I don't think I've seen him around for awhile. I just ignore Riley now, ever since he went from "Annoying guy who at least has points to his ramblings, even though I disagree with 90% of them" to "blatent troll."
He's not even trying anymore. No reason to waste my breath on that.

Gabe Newell's appetite has returned to its baby-eating standards now that companies are signing up for steam distribution.
Bleu's News: So Gabe, how's steam doing? Gabe: I'm gonna be richer than Bill Gates!! Bleu's News: Um, no. Gabe: I'm gonna be richer than Donald TrumP!! Bleu's News: Are the strategy first games going to be episodic like SiN? Gabe: Are you fucking kidding me? Everything is episodic on steam. Our games are episodic, HL2, Lost Coast, Aftermath. Counter-Strike & Day of Defeat, new maps one at a time. Steam is episodic. SiN will be, HL3 will be. Everything will be. We're gonna make a buttload of money off those stupid... er, um, our wonderful customers.
Bleu's News: Are you really gay? Gabe: WTF? STFU! I'll eat your baby! Bleu's News: Yeah, about that, rumor is nothing is left behind? Not even hair... Gabe: I eat the bones. I suck the unfinished shit from their intestines. A good meal should waste nothing.
Bleu's News: Okay, that's it for the interview thanks. Gabe: Don't you want to hear about Day of Defeat: Lost Bunker? Bleu's News: Um, no.
