Wasteland 2 Beta On Track; Last Chance for Add-ons

The Kickstarter for Wasteland 2 confirms inXile entertainment's RPG sequel is on track to begin closed beta testing for backers next week, which means time is running out to get in on their add-ons. Word is:

We’ve been hard at work on the backer beta, working through some last blocker bugs to get it ready for you, and kept you updated on @wasteland2beta and the Wasteland 2 tumblr. To catch you up: it’s almost ready: We’re fully on track to put it in your hands next week!

As we’ve said before, the initial beta rollout is the first four major areas, the associated COPS maps (smaller maps), the world map and its random encounters, and character creation. As the beta progresses, we’ll roll out more areas, though we do plan to hold LA back for spoiler reasons. We’ll have more details on the beta such as remaining known issues next week, when we launch it.

We did want to let you all know that when the beta launches we will be pulling the add-on options from the Wasteland 2 store. If you want to add any of those to your existing pledge – or if you want to be able to jump in on the beta at its launch – this week will be your last chance to do so!

PC Ultra Street Fighter IV in August

Capcom Unity announces release details for Ultra Street Fighter IV, saying the PC edition of the enhanced fighting game will come in August, offering a deal to make up for the delay, as the console versions will come a couple of months before that:

Next up is the release date information for Ultra Street Fighter IV. Right now, we are hard at work to bring the game to all of our fans as soon as possible, and want to ensure there is enough time that players can practice to compete at Evolution 2014. As such, the digital upgrade will be available in early June for $14.99 (€14.99) on PS3 and Xbox 360. Following shortly after in August, is the digital upgrade for PC at $14.99 (€14.99), as well as the PS3 and Xbox360 full digital bundle and retail versions, which include all previously-released costumes for $39.99 (€39.99). Since our PC fans have to wait longer for the content, we have a special deal where they can get the full digital bundle including all of the previously-released costumes for only $29.99 (€29.99), also in August. Apologies to our PC fans, as we did want to release simultaneously, but this was the only way that we could ensure that Ultra Street Fighter IV would be included in the largest fighting game tournament in the world.

We have added new destructive machinery, more dynamic stuff to blow up, spectacular stunts and an awesome physics cannon that we use to play with our physics engine. And though we've only seen references to this on Steam, GameStop PC Downloads has it as well, albeit without the re-launch discount. Here's a description:

It is a time of war. Galbadia, a Global Superpower, has declared war on Dollet, a country whose training academy is home to two personalities: the hot-headed Seifer and the 'lone wolf', Squall Leonhart. Both are equally at conflict with each other as their country is with Galbadia; to others, Squall appears lacking in team spirit, while Seifer lacks the discipline of his rival. However, a chance encounter with the free-spirited Rinoa Heartilly turns Squall's universe upside down; having thrived on discipline, Squall find the carefree Rinoa fascinating. He also begins to dream that he is Laguna Loire, a Galbadian army soldier…

Out of the Blue

I'm starting to believe my miraculous Beat the Insiders comeback is not in the offing, though I did manage 11 winners last week. The trouble is this was a week where most players did well anyway. I suppose the idea at this point is to pick some long shots to play catch-up, but I think I'll just keep playing it straight (for all the good it's done me so far) and just try and end up with a respectable record.
