now offers a launch trailer
while announcing that Tuesday will see the release of this adventure/role-playing game from indie developer Instant Kingdom, a husband-and-wife team from Finland (thanks Acleacius via RPG Watch
). Here's word on the game:
The beautiful, enchanted world of Driftmoon trembles in the shadow of a forgotten evil, for the dark King Ixal is again gathering his forces. The last hope of an enchanted world lies in an unlikely alliance: a hyperactive firefly, a queen panther with a whale-sized ego, and a fellow who's lost all but his bones. They'll take you on a journey like no other, full of amazing adventures, and fearsome foes.
will end in a few hours, so your last chance nears to take it hip to hip and rocket through the wilderness. This procedurally generated online co-op action game has already collected more than double its initial funding goal, and the project is just a few thousand dollars shy of its final stretch goal, which, in addition to "substantially improving the quality of the game," will also trigger additional backer rewards. Thanks nin.
The After Reset website
reveals development of After Reset
, a Unity-engine project described as "a classic post-apocalyptic role-playing game" (thanks No Mutants Allowed
). They offers some concept art and the following premise:
Planet Earth. 132 years after the "Reset," the thermonuclear apocalypse which ended human civilization. Around one third of the globe is covered by "Yellow Zones," where the ruins of cities are covered with radioactive dust. In these areas, Anarchist "Survivor" groups have taken control, and uncontaminated food and drinking water are valued at parity with human life. Another third of the Earth is in the agony of the "Red Zones," the epicenters of the deadly anomalies which arose as a result of a nuclear chain reaction in the atmosphere, and the morphing of the planet. The majority of terrestrial organisms are not capable of surviving in the "Red Zones," which makes it a perfect home for mutants and "guests" from deep space. The planet is unrecognizable and empty…

The Academy Awards will be handed out tonight. As always, MrsBlue and I are at a disadvantage when it comes to the Oscars, since we usually only see movies after they come to cable/satellite. We did see two of the current flicks though, so based on what we know, we are picking Lincoln
and Django Unchained
to sweep the awards. This may be iffy when it comes to things like best animated short, but you have to stick with what you know. If you are looking for guidance from someone who knows more about this than me... well, I guess you could ask about anyone, but specifically, our old comrade loonyboi has once again posted his own picks
, which are actually well-informed in general, not just in comparison with my ignorance.

Bugbear Entertainment announces
their next car game, saying "demolition derby is set to return in a big way" in a game they say will come to "the PC and yet to be announced platforms" and promising more news soon (thanks Charlie). In the meatime they have launched a new website at NextCarGame.com
as home to the project, offering newsletter signups, a teaser trailer
, and word that the developer of the FlatOut
series is bowing to the will of the people in returning to its roots, saying: "This time we're going back to our roots - just like all of our fans have been asking us to do!" They also state the trailer's realistic and considerable carnage are all created using in-game footage. Here's word:

Best known for our critically acclaimed, multi-million selling “FlatOut” series (FlatOut, FlatOut 2, FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage), team Bugbear is going to deliver the definitive demolition derby racing game.
We’re doing it because nobody else seems capable of delivering the kind of game our fans have been asking from us every week. We feel that there hasn’t been a proper demolition derby game in years. It’s about time they got an answer.
We’re calling it just our next car game for now. It’s coming for the PC and yet to be announced platforms. More news soon.
We mentioned the current Steam sale
on Guns of Icarus Online last night
, but failed to mention that this is in part to celebrate the release of a Linux edition of the strategic airship shooter. Word is: "Guns of Icarus Online is the first co-operative airship combat game mixing together first-person shooter action with team-based strategy. Up to four people will crew a ship, taking on one of the key roles of Captain, Gunner, or Engineer joining a team and fighting against other ships above the post-apocalyptic waste. In Guns of Icarus Online, it will take teamwork and tactics to dominate the skies."
announces their own BioShock Infinite
Steam pre-purchase unlocks besides those mentioned yesterday
by stacking a couple of additional bonuses on top of the pile
by offering their own alternate set of preorder bonuses for Irrational's shooter sequel. They are selling Steam
but the original Steam don't bonuses apply (currently the original BioShock
). Instead, GMG will add the original BioShock as well as your choice of the following games to your order: Spec Ops: The Line
, Civilization V
, BioShock 2
, The Darkness 2
, or Mafia 2
. Thanks DEALZON
Cleared up out initial misunderstanding that the GMG bonuses stack with the Steam bonuses, rather than replace them. Apologies for the error and any confusion.
Rockstar Games announces
a Grand Theft Auto IV
Social Club Multiplayer Event is now underway:
Today, Saturday February 23rd we'll be hosting our scheduled GTAIV Multiplayer session as part of the Winter Calendar of events. It's time for residents of Liberty City to batten down the hatches as the Social Club community rolls into town for a session of street racing and all out mayhem in Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer. Join us from 11am-2pm EST / 4pm-7pm GMT, to play along with our devs and watch the action unfold on the double live stream over at the Social Club Multiplayer Events page. We'll also have a giveaway to win one of 10 deluxe Grand Theft Auto Prize Packs, each including a pair of GTAV t-shirts, GTAIV license plate, and select gear from the Vice City 10th Anniversary Collection. We'll also host a bonus live chat and stream at twitch.tv/rockstargames.
We're kicking things off in original GTAIV multiplayer for the first hour, before moving on to The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony for the second and third hours, respectively. Feel free to add the dev accounts below to your friends list and we'll try to get in a round with as many of you as possible. However, do remember that we clear our friends lists right at the start of the event, so your best bet is to wait until then to add us.
I have all the ingredients, so I'm going to take a crack at making that Bolognese sauce again, now that I have a better idea of what I want to accomplish. The good news is that even if it turns out to be terrible, the sauce cooking away for a couple of hours will be like an awesome meat-scented air-freshener. Hey, don't steal that idea, I think I just came up with something, though it probably shouldn't be used in the vicinity of bears...
