"All Hands on Deck" for New Mass Effect 3 DLC

A post from a couple of weeks back on the BioWare Social Network says that it's "all hands on deck" for what's presumed to be development of an unannounced DLC pack for Mass Effect 3, adding: "Pretty much every ME3 DLC writer here in Edmonton is involved. (which would include both Patrick Weekes AND John Dombrow)." This was noted by Eurogamer after spotting a tweet from music composer Sam Hulick spilling these beans: "What I'm up to lately: working on an unannounced Mass Effect 3 DLC! More details on this coming later on." They also point out it seems voice actor Seth Green is on board, as are other squadmates.

HAWKEN Delayed; Open Beta Next Week

A post to the HAWKEN Forums reveals that this free-to-play mech shooter will not make its planned December 12th launch date, highlighting the perils of trying to set the date 10 months in advance. Instead that date will mark the beginning of open beta testing for the game, and in preparation for this new phase, they announce that they will cease offering their Vanguard Initiative after tomorrow, so time is running out to get in on the benefits this provides. Thanks Computer and Video Games.

Aftermath Released for Battlefield 3 Premium

The PC edition of the Aftermath DLC is now available for Battlefield 3 Premium members, adding four urban maps, a new game mode, and new assignments to the Windows and Xbox 360 editions of the shooter sequel (the P3 edition was released last month). Here's word:

Set amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran, Battlefield 3™: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation.

With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.

But this solitary life is shattered when a rogue robot breaks into the airship and steals the power core Horatio and Crispin need to survive. Now the pair must travel outside the relative safety of their remote home to Metropol, where the search for power will yield unexpected discoveries about Horatio's origins, his purpose, and the world he thought he understood.

Black Ops II Sells $1B in 15 Days

Activision announces that Call of Duty: Black Ops II has tallied over one billion dollars in gross sales in the just over two weeks since the release of the military shooter sequel:

Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that Call of Duty®: Black Ops II has crossed the $1 billion mark in worldwide retail sales, according to Chart-Track retail customer sell-through information and internal company estimates. Illustrating the strong appeal of interactive entertainment to audiences worldwide, the game achieved this milestone in just 15 days after its launch on November 13, 2012. Last year's Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare®3 reached $1 billion in retail sales in 16 days. The box office record set for feature films in 2009 by "Avatar" was $1 billion in 17 days¹.

"The release of Call of Duty® has been one of the most significant entertainment events of each of the last six years," said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. "Since Call of Duty was launched, cumulative franchise revenues from players around the world are greater than current worldwide box office receipts to date for the top-10 grossing films of 2012 combined. Life-to-date sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded worldwide theatrical box office receipts for 'Harry Potter' and 'Star Wars,' the two most successful movie franchises of all time."

Since the game's launch, more than 150 million hours have been logged online playing Call of Duty: Black Ops II on Xbox® LIVE® and PlayStation Network.

Out of the Blue

I'm pretty sure today I'll make that batch of chili I mentioned the other day. I was talking with MrsBlue about possibly adding in the chili peppers gradually to have the heat level be a little less random when we recognized that we both sort of like to be surprised in this regard. Let's call it chili roulette.
