The Baldur's Gate Website announces that preloads of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition are now being offered in advance of next week's release of the updated role-playing game. The news is accompanied by some screenshots and this new trailer. Here's word:

Overhaul Games is excited to announce that pre-loading for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition has begun ahead of final release on November 28th, 2012. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for PC is available exclusively through Beamdog, and can be purchased here.

If you've already purchased Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, you can either pre-load it through the Beamdog client, which can be found here, or through the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Installer which can be downloaded here.

Assassin's Creed III Patch

The Assassin's Creed III Website now offers a Thanksgiving patch to update the recently released action/stealth sequel to version 1.01. The download is mirrored on The Patches Scrolls. Update: Apparently this is the proper change list for this patch, rather than what was originally posted here. Apologies for the confusion.

World of Warcraft Hotfixes

The World of Warcraft Website has updated its list of hotfixes applied to the servers for Blizzard's MMORPG since the release of the version 5.0.5 patch. This includes bug fixes and balance tweaks, mostly concerned with dungeons, raids, and scenarios.

CARGASM HD Released

The Intel AppUp center now offers digital sales of CARGASM HD, the updated arcade racing game. Word is: "Heralding a return of the classic arcade racer, Cargasm gives gamers a host of cars which they can enter into different races. All the race tracks are set in meticulously recreated photorealistic real-world locations such as London, Paris and Egypt."

Rush Bros. Demo

A playable demo for Rush Bros. is now available from XYLA Entertainment to help support their Steam Greenlight campaign for this throwback platformer. Here's word on the game: "Rush Bros. is a platforming racing game with a distinctly 8-bit retro look and feel, but using modern day technology to implement an amazing music mechanic that directly affects your game play based upon your own music choices."

Eurocom Layoffs

More than 200 former Eurocom employees have lost their jobs, reports GamesIndustry International, confirming that fewer than 50 employees remain at the 007 Legends developer. "We've fought to try and save as many jobs as possible, but the steep decline in demand for console games, culminating in a number of console projects falling through in the last week, left us with no option," reads an official statement from the developer. "Eurocom has retained a core staff of just under 50 employees and will be focusing mainly on mobile opportunities moving forward."

Out of the Blue

Oops, thanks to dj LiTh for pointing out I missed picking one of the games this week: For the Bills/Colts game I'll take the Colts. We had an awesome time for Thanksgiving yesterday, the food came out great, and it was wonderful spending time with our family. Today is that Black Friday that is such a treat for people who love bargains, and of course people who love crowds. I hope you are in a position to avoid this, but if it's your thing, I at least hope you can avoid being trampled.

Shadowrun Returns in May/June 2013?

A Thanksgiving Kickstarter update from Harebrained Schemes LLC offers a hearty "thank you" to supporters of Shadowrun Returns, their upcoming tactical RPG revival (thanks nin). The post is a bit of a ramble, but it does contain a potential release window for the game, as they have decided their original goal of a January release is not realistic:

As we announced a few months ago, we’ve backed off our original delivery date of January 2013. It might’ve worked for the scope of the game we originally envisioned but as our ambitions (read that “features list”) grew, so did the time we needed to deliver! Plus, we made a big move from our original top down camera to an isometric point of view and that took serious R&D time. Right now, according to our estimates, we’re looking at May or June.

We’ve spent the majority of our time getting our game engine, art pipeline and base gameplay up and running and we’ve covered a lot of ground to get a lot of systems in place. Our engineering team has been crunching off and on for months to maximize the amount of time our designers will have to create our story.

Interstellar Marines: Prologue Explanation

The Kickstarter Page for Interstellar Marines: Prologue now features a new video where a couple of the developers from Zero Point Software explain what their goals are, since it has become clear to them that the nature of their fundraiser is not clear to us (thanks John). They currently have raised under a quarter of their $600K goal with less than a week to go, so they are trying to turn up the heat on this. Here's word on the clip, which also includes some gameplay footage:

Since our Kickstarter campaign started it has been clear to us that our explanation of Prologue has been somewhat vague. So we decided to sit down in a cozy environment, with the limited time that we have, and go through the experience from A to Z, like we've never done before!

Without further ado, here's two nerds, an ambitious indie game, and a beautiful AI :)

Out of the Blue

It's Thanksgiving here in the U.S., so happy holiday to all who are celebrating, and best wishes to all in the hope that you have reason to be thankful even if this is not celebrated where you are. Things are well underway here in the BlueTower, as the Chex Mix is mixed and the turkey is nearing perfection even as I type these words. I'm looking forward to spending time with the family, watching some football, and lapsing into a food-induced coma. We also have thanks to express, and most appropriate to this space, thanks to all of you for your support of this site over all these years.

Speaking of football, here are last week's results: Batman 12-1 (I don't think we can give credit for posting a Thursday winner on Sunday), Cutter 12-2, Jivaro 11-2 (skipped Eagles/Skins), mag and Blue 11-3, and Creston and Verno 10-4. Here are my picks for this week: I guess we'll have to see if posting so late means we just shouldn't count the early game: Texans, Cowboys, Patriots, Seahawks, Falcons, Bengals, Steelers, Titans, Broncos, Bears, Chargers, Saints, Rams, Giants, and Panthers.
