Czech Republic president Václav Klaus has sent a letter to Greek president Karolos Papoulias to make the case for releasing Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar, two employees of Bohemia Interactive Studios under arrest in Greece for espionage. Following word the pair have been denied bail the Czech president has intervened, and while this letter would be all Greek to us, Eurogamer was able to check with the Czech counterparts for a translation. While repeating he is confident the pair will be treated fairly, Mr. Klaus implies he wants the Greek president to make that confidence justified: "I want to ask you, Mr. President, to follow this unfortunate affair with special attention considering the excellent relations between our nations so this does not throw unnecessary shade onto our relationship," reads their translation. "Once again, I want to assure you that I have the utmost certainty that our accused citizens will be given all the rights in the search for justice by the Greek authorities."
The Roberts Space Industries Website follows up on the hegely successful fundraiser for Star Citizen with The Pledge, their founding document that outlines the principles they will follow in spending their millions on developing this upcoming space simulation. They also announce a grace period for those who attempted to participate in the fundraiser but were locked out in the homestretch:
In the aftermath of some of the craziest 48 hours we’ve ever experienced it’s become clear that there’s a sizable number of people that were unable to pledge, or adjust their pledges due to the difficulties with the RSI site. Many people tried repeatedly over the weekend, only for the site to crash at various points during the check out. Some people switched to Kickstarter, but there were also a large number of people that Kickstarter wasn’t an option and so they have been left high and dry. The focus of our campaign was, from day one, involving the fans and trying to give them as many options to support us as possible. The last thing we want to do is punish any of you, and so we have decided to adapt our plans and offer a grace period for all current members of the RSI community.
If you have a membership, regardless of whether you have previously purchased a tier, you will be able to pledge at the current prices through this weekend. We will keep the limited add-on ships available through that time for everyone who tried to purchase one but wasn’t able. Everything will switch to the new pricing structure on Monday November 26th

A new Kickstarter from 22cans seeks £450,000 for Project GODUS, a "reinvention of the god game" from this studio formed by Peter Molyneux, who pioneered the genre with Populous over two decades ago (thanks Joao). They are shooting for a release in about nine months, but will use funding beyond their target to extend the development schedule. Here's word:
Populous was created over 22 years ago, and we believe that to date, nothing has come close to emulating its powerfully godlike experience. It’s this experience we aim to reimagine. GODUS blends the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White. The original Populous hailed from the 8-bit era but GODUS will use the most modern technology the world has to offer.

Look at that: Another year, another birthday for me, as much as I hate being predictable. One thing you learn about being born on this date is that it's the day before JFK's assassination, as it is always in the news around now. The other thing you learn is that the 22nd is the earliest day that can be Thanksgiving in the U.S., and this is one of those years. This isn't a big problem, and it certainly wasn't like a kid born near Christmas as I grew up, but it does mean that my celebration today will include such choice moments as cleaning bathrooms and bathing doggies to prepare for company tomorrow.
Players can opt to play as one of six classes to aid their chosen Empire in global domination. They’ll fight for control of key territories and valuable resources on three playable continents – Indar, Esamir and Amerish. With an extensive skill tree and free-form class-based system, players will be able to customize their soldier, weapons and vehicles to match their play-style, as well as the needs of their squad, outfit or empire. Battles can last for days or weeks, so players will need to build alliances and specialized combat outfits to take on long-term strategic and tactical initiatives. With aircraft and ground vehicles, as well as infantry combat, the battles will be larger and more intense than ever before.
As players earn battle experience, they’ll increase their certs and unlock access to new roles and extensive customization options, along with a variety of weapons and vehicles.
“PlanetSide 2 is designed to enable player-driven combat where teammates rely on each other to succeed and survive. With so much control in the hands of the players, every day we learn more about what they can and will do in Auraxis,” said Higby. “We’ve launched, but development will never be done. We have tons of plans in place and content in development to help fuel years of battle.”
The Windows edition of Assassin's Creed III is now available in North America, offering the chance to sneak around some American Revolutionary War battlefields in the latest installment in the stealth franchise. Kickstarter now has a campaign to fund Legend of Dungeon, a pixel art roguelike for Windows, OS X, and Linux by husband-and-wife team RobotLovesKitty. The game has a modest $5,000 goal, and to see if it's worthy of your support, here's a trailer, and there's also a playable demo of an early build. Here's word on that: "As you explore the sparsely lit dungeon, gather items and battle monsters you will no doubt end up dead, and like classic rogue, death is game over. Except with co-op, instead, you turn into a ghost and collect the glowing souls of monsters your comrades have slain in order to revive. Another interesting aspect of single and multiplayer is that the dungeon doesn't adjust for player count, so alone you might have more apples to eat and hats to wear, but there will also be more monsters for you alone to kill."

The outpouring of support by close to 4,500 backers, who helped the Kickstarter succeed by an additional 75% beyond the initial target of $100K, means that in addition to the core game, fans will have access to XedMod, a lightweight and unified version of Xed, the development toolset used by Born Ready to create the game. As part of the Kickstarter campaign, Born Ready also offered exclusive PC beta access for the first thousand backers who pledged $50 or more. This closed beta is currently scheduled for early December.
James Brooksby, CEO of Born Ready Games said “We are truly grateful for all the support we’ve received and above all else want to thank the community. Their support has meant we’re now able to make the game we always envisioned, and we can’t wait for our fans to get their hands on it.”
Well amidst a hectic week at the BlueTower we had our annual physicals this morning, which has caused a bit of a setback in posting the news this morning, for which I apologize. A final word on this must wait for our blood tests to return, but I got a very upbeat initial overview that I seem to have the metabolism of a runner, in spite of being amazingly sedentary. I'm not taking this for granted, and want to make a point of getting more regular exercise before whatever luck I've been experiencing in this area wears off.
