GTA5 in Spring?

Computer and Video Games reports a indication that Grand Theft Auto V will be released in Spring 2013, saying this was found on some allegedly leaked posters on gta-five.pl, a Polish website that currently seems completely blank. They do reproduce the images, and we'll trust their super vision when they say "suggest - in very small print - the eagerly anticipated sequel will be available between March and May next year," adding "this has not been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive."

CD Projekt RED Plans/Rumors

The Witcher Forums have some tidbits from Piotr Gnyp's Twitter Feed with some tidbits from an upcoming interview with CD Projekt RED that reveal some of their plans (thanks Gamer's Hell). Here's their summary:

  • Unnanounced dark fantasy title (Witcher 3?) is in more advanced stages than Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 is the first in a series, both games are larger than The Witcher, both are multiplaform
  • 2013 will be smaller stuff for CDP RED, no Witcher-caliber release
  • Witcher for iPhone - too early to say anything, but not impossible

EDIT: missed some stuff:

  • no Witcher for PS3 next year, they want TW on Playstation, but not current gen
  • both TW3 and CP2077 will appear on next gen consoles

City of Steam Closed Beta Next Month

Mechanist Games announces plans for closed beta testing of City of Steam, their steampunk MMORPG. They have scheduled four five-day-long tests beginning next month. Here's the schedule along with word on the game:

Springtide: Nov. 16 – 20
Summercrest: Nov. 30 – Dec. 4
Autumnwane: Dec. 14 – 18
Winter Festival: Dec. 23 – 28

City of Steam is a 3D MMORPG set in an industrial age fantasy world. Using the Unity 3D engine, along with a number of in-house tools, the game has been optimized to be light and accessible without sacrificing graphics or content. Levels take up mere megabytes, keeping loading times very low. In addition, being browser-based means there is no need to download or install a bulky client; the game can be picked up and resumed on the fly on any other computer that has a web browser.

Beta Collaborator Packs can also be picked up for a number of in-game extras, such as character name reservation, guaranteed Beta access and social currency, and also to support City of Steam development. Higher levels of these collaborator packs further include personally designing an item, getting one’s name appear permanently as a city founder in-game, even a signed poster from the development team.

Out of the Blue

Thanks to all of you expressing concern that the BlueTower stays safe during Hurricane Sandy, aka the Frankenstorm. We're not in a particularly vulnerable location, so at the risk of angering the fates, I'll express confidence we will be safe, and that our major concern is that we may lose power. If that turns out to be the case, I'll probably be able to add a note here to that effect, but I can't say that for sure, so we'll just see how it goes. To those in more dangerous spots, here's hoping you stay safe and sound throughout, as while the forecasts are often wrong in this regard, there are some dire predications of how severe this will be, so better safe than sorry.
