PlanetSide Universe has a post summarizing plans for beta testing of
PlanetSide 2, bringing together details about the MMOFPS sequel from various posts and tweets (thanks Matthew). They say external testing is kicking off this week, and outline who is being granted access to the beta, noting that PlanetSide veterans are already in line for keys. They also explain that unlike many "betas," they are actually using this testing session to improve the game, not just promote it:
Beta testing is a critically important part of our development cycle on this project, we may be asking you to only play on tanks for a play session, or only play aircraft. We are doing true beta testing, not just a game demo and we implore those of you who are invited to understand and respect that. Things will break, the server will be unavailable sometimes, we will cancel scheduled tests when we find something that breaks before the test starts. All of this will help us make a better final game.
IGN Video has first impressions of the "Wolf Pack" multiplayer mode in

Also, Ubisoft has released the trailer they are showing at Comic-Con from their upcoming action/stealth sequel. The clip is narrated by creative director Alex Hutchinson who shows how the game will depict the city of Boston during its colonial setting.

This Kickstarter looks to jumpstart development of
Defense Grid 2, a sequel to Hidden Path Entertainment's tower defense game. This one has an interesting approach, as there are funding goals to hit along the way. So if they raise $250K, they will create an eight-level expansion for the original Defense Grid; if they raise $500K they will build a new engine for a Defense Grid 2 remake with co-op multiplayer; at $750K they will add a level editor and other platforms; and if the campaign hits the $1M mark, they will be able to create the full sequel of their dreams. Thanks Bob.
Oi! It's Friday the 13th, and I seem to be suffering for it, as I've had a few technical difficulties today, especially with the YouTube. That turned out to be a problem with my browser, as Chrome refused to login, and I had to use Firefox, as apparently the right hand and the left hand at Google are having a little trouble at the moment. So I don't know if all this qualifies as bad luck, but I probably won't be walking under any ladders at this rate either.
