Ground Branch Kickstarter

This Kickstarter is for Ground Branch, a tactical shooter from BlackFoot Studios that needs to raise a majority of its $425,000 goal in a few days. This trailer offers the game's pitch, and here's a quote from BlackFoot founder and original member of Red Storm Entertainment John Sonedecker: "There are a lot of people that loved Red Storm Entertainmentís original Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear and Ghost Recon but the latest incarnations of those titles just arenít what they want. To me, Ground Branch is for those people." Thanks NamecaF.

The Repopulation Kickstarter

This Kickstarter Campaign looks to raise money for The Repopulation, which has been mentioned here in the past. Word is: "To date weíve managed to keep our costs down to a minimum due to our core team working for free, and by outsourcing to affordable contractors out of our own pockets. We were prepared to do this until launch, but the amount of interest in this project over the past few months has led us to believe that we owe our rapidly growing user base the most polished content we can provide at launch. Weíre kickstarting to ensure that we can accomplish that."

Investors are also comparing current sales numbers to the cycle's peak, back when the Wii was a must-have device that retailers couldn't keep on store shelves. Now that demand for Nintendo's system has effectively dried up, the numbers can't compete.

If not for the recession, those Wii owners might have kept the industry on a fairly even keel. But the longevity of the economic downturn, coupled with the rise of the smart phone and the app market with its cheap games, stole much of Nintendo's audience away.

Out of the Blue

I'm planning to make burgers and chicken breasts on the man stove this evening. I'm working on refining a new technique I tried for the breasts for the first time recently: Starting them indirectly under aluminum pans before searing the outsides directly to finish them. First time out they were better than my perfected method for doing them directly, so I'm already way ahead of the game on this one.
