Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Reports Results for Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2012, saying the losses for the year were in line with projections. Here's word: "For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, net revenue was $825.8 million, as compared to $1,136.9 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011, which had benefited from the release of Red Dead Redemption. GAAP loss from continuing operations was $107.7 million, or $1.30 per diluted share, as compared to GAAP income from continuing operations of $53.8 million, or $0.62 per diluted share, for the prior fiscal year. Non-GAAP net loss was $59.4 million, or $0.71 per diluted share, as compared to Non-GAAP net income of $94.3 million, or $1.02 per diluted share, for the prior fiscal year." There's also news of a delay to 2K Marin's planned XCOM first-person shooter, which was most recently delayed to their fiscal 2013. Now word is: "2K Games now expects to release XCOM, its shooter version of the franchise that is in development at 2K Marin, during fiscal year 2014," so this additional one-year setback means the game may not be released until March 31, 2014.

Blizzard has posted a message in response to the perception that recent reports of account hacking in Diablo III represent an uptick in such incidents. They say the number of compromised accounts does not represent anything unusual for their games, and that they continue to recommend the use of the Battle.net Authenticator or the Battle.net Mobile Authenticator for best security of your Battle.net account:
We'd like to take a moment to address the recent reports that suggested that Battle.net® and Diablo® III may have been compromised. Historically, the release of a new game -- such as a World of Warcraft® expansion -- will result in an increase in reports of individual account compromises, and that's exactly what we're seeing now with Diablo III. We know how frustrating it can be to become the victim of account theft, and as always, we're dedicated to doing everything we can to help our players keep their Battle.net accounts safe -- and we appreciate everyone who's doing their part to help protect their accounts as well. You can read about ways to help keep your account secure, along with some of the internal and external measures we have in place to help us achieve our security goals, at our account security website here: www.battle.net/security.
We also wanted to reassure you that the Battle.net Authenticator and Battle.net Mobile Authenticator (a free app for iPhone and Android devices) continue to be some of the most effective measures we offer to help players protect themselves against account compromises, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of them. In addition, we also recently introduced a new service called Battle.net SMS Protect, which allows you to use your text-enabled cell phone to unlock a locked Battle.net account, recover your account name, approve a password reset, or remove a lost Authenticator. Optionally, you can set up the Battle.net SMS Protect system to send you a text message whenever unusual activity is detected on your account, keeping you aware of important (and possibly unwanted) changes.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Website has word of staff cuts at BioWare Austin, the development studio behind Star Wars: The Old Republic, the sci-fi MMORPG. The update from Doctors Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka does not say why this is happening, but does that this about the future: "Rest assured that we remain dedicated to delivering a high quality service in SWTOR to you, our fans, and we will continue to support and grow Star Wars: The Old Republic over the weeks, months and years to come." VentureBeat has a follow-up comment on this from Electronic Arts:
BioWare has restructured its studio in Austin today. Of the employees impacted, some will be able to join other projects within EA, others will leave the company. These are very difficult decisions, but it allows us to focus our staff to maintain and grow Star Wars: The Old Republic.
BioWare Austin remains a large and important part of BioWare and EA, working with other studios around the world to continue to deliver a high-quality service and exciting new content for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Yeah it's more than a little odd being alone here, or alone with the doggies.... And the Gunnar-man is a little thrown by it as well, as he's utterly devoted to MrsBlue. So basically everyone is a little out of sorts with her out of town. Except Hudson the wonder dog, who is fine as long as I'm here (and there are fresh batteries in the smoke detector).
