Australia Syndicate Classification Refusal Explained

GamePron follows up on reports that the upcoming Syndicate shooter is Refused Classification for sale in Australia, offering the classification board's reason for not allowing the game's sale:

In order to complete the missions, a player has to engage in intense combat with swarms of enemy combatants who are clad in light armour. A variety of weapons is available and these often cause decapitation, dismemberment and gibbing during frenetic gunfights. For example, an intense sequence of violence commences when a player collects a “G290 minigun”, which operates much like a Gatling gun. A player moves through a building rapidly firing at enemy combatants. Combatants take locational damage and can be explicitly dismembered, decapitated or bisected by the force of the gunfire. The depictions are accompanied by copious bloodspray and injuries are shown realistically and with detail. Flesh and bone are often exposed while arterial sprays of blood continue to spurt from wounds at regular intervals.

World of Tanks Patched

Wargaming.net announces the launch of the promised version 7.0 update for World of Tanks, saying the ensuing version 7.1 update for the MMOTPS is already in the works. Here's a bit:

World of Tanks' most anticipated update includes numerous camouflages visible to all players. Tankers will be able to ride their roaring monsters across new maps - Fjords and Swamp. In addition to the scenery of the new battle arenas, updated special effects including salvos and explosions will add realism to the gameplay.

Tank Company mode has also been improved to fit players' requirements and abilities. Tankmen can now choose the division of battles with different tier caps: Junior (tier 4), Medium (tier 6), Champion (tier 8), and Absolute (tier 10).

The company also announced the upcoming release of Update 7.1 featuring the French tech tree. 18 new vehicles will introduce the first three branches of the French nation; light, medium, and heavy steel chariots will enrich the combat and bring all-new tactics into the game. These will later be followed by SPGs and tank destroyers.

Syndicate Refused Classification in Australia

Though it seems Australia will soon be getting their long-awaited R18+ rating for adult games, this apparently will not arrive in time for Syndicate, as GamePron has word that the upcoming first-person shooter reboot has been refused classification for sale down under. In effect, this means the game will not be legal to sell, distribute, or display in the region. It is not clear at this time what game content caused this decision.
