Captains of Darktide Offline, Moving

"The Servers Are Now Offline" declares the Captains of Darktide Website, where they explain this is because Silverlode Interactive's free-to-play fantasy-themed naval strategy MMORPG has attracted the attention of a major publisher, and the game is in the process of being moved to new hosting facilities. There's more on this in the game's forums, where lead programmer Ayrik says: "How long? We don't know. But I would guess in the range of weeks. Of course, I may be completely off, so that's how well we know right now! We will be sending off an email in the near future to give any information we can. And when the game is up, or soon to be, they will likely send you an email about it." Thanks Gary.

Siege Online Launches

Siege Online is, well, online, offering a free role-playing strategy game, described like this: "You become a feudal lord in a medieval world of internecine wars. Expect a very original game, with fresh ideas and cohesive gameplay." They want to make it as easy as possible to entice you into checking this out, saying: "And don't forget that Siege Online is absolutely free. You don't even have to register to try it, just download the game and press the "Play" button..." Thanks Gamer's Hell.

Out of the Blue

The television is filled with coverage of Katrina the past few days, as today is the fifth anniversary of the devastation of New Orleans by that hurricane. The stories of recovery are heartwarming, but the numerous stories of areas still in disrepair are heartbreaking, as are the retrospectives on the disaster itself and all the lives lost as a result.
