The Freedom: Soldiers of
Liberty Preview on PC.IGN.Com offers impressions of IO Interactive's
upcoming game formerly known as Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island. Here's
snapshot of the game's feel: "It's a simple game. Rainbow Six, this is not.
Soldiers of Liberty is about action and on your feet, seat-of-your-pants
strategy. It's third-person, and while players will command Joe Schmo the
plumbing military leader and order about a dozen comrades to their deaths, it's
always played from the back of the hero (no character jumping here).
Surprisingly, the console versions all play out very intuitively and benefit
most from the extra strategy and squad-based elements built into the game.
Essentially, three buttons command all orders to all men."
UO Stratics has
picked up some reports from some fan sites that some info has appeared in the
June issue of GMR Magazine where Jeff Green of Computer Gaming World reveals
what seem like pretty firm plans for a new MMO Ultima game. Here's a bit:
"For over a year now, Origin has been quietly woodshedding Ultima-X its new
MMORPG. And it’s going to surprise you. I can't say anything just yet except
maybe three quick words: Unreal Warfare engine."

GameSpy.com's
Enter the Matrix Preview is based on playing with the PS2 version of the
imminent Matrix game that will also be released for the PC. They offer updated
impressions of the gameplay on tap, and background on how this game fits in with
the rest of the Matrix franchise: "The two main characters starring in Enter
the Matrix are Ghost and Niobe. Ghost is the hardcore martial artist, and
Niobe is the sexy gun-slinging, car-driving badass. Both characters are kind of
secondary in Matrix Reloaded, but they're the stars of the video game."

I'm off to attend a baseball game this afternoon, the first time in years. I'm
actually a life-long Mets fan, but I'm off to the house that Ruth built to see
the Yankees with a couple of buddies who have less heartbreaking taste in ball
teams than I do. Used to be you would avoid wearing a Mets cap to Yankee Stadium
to avoid being beaten up, but these days you do it to avoid those pitying
glances.
