rant
the tokay for a day contest

9/11/96 after thinking about it for a long time, the rants section is born... this'll prolly evolve a lot real fast or die or something, or i don't know maybe, it'll stay exactly like this forever and become an institution and you can tell your grand-kids that you were here when it all started way back when... now that i've gotten this off to the right start, i guess i oughta get to the point that got me to the point that i was gonna rant... so american mcgee (isn't it cool how i'm not bothering to capitalize anything on this page?--it's so...edgy) updates his plan file and talks about this great machine he's got and i'm writing how cool it must be to be american mcgee, and it makes me think now that's a cool contest i would like to run... i've never had one cause i'd like it to be cool, you know like those mtv contests where they give you a town or make you a rock promoter for a day (do they still do those?) or something, only the contest would be that you win and get to be an id software honcho like ole tokay there, so you get to ride around in a sports car or a hummer or something and then play quake with your t3 connection to your house and design computer games for a real good living. of course it's kind of hard to put the resources together for a contest like that but i'm working on it (any sportscar dealers or workstation sellers willing to donate goodies in exchange for promotional consideration contact me please). right now the only contest i could manage is the be blue for the day contest, but the day the winner would have to be me is today, where you're sitting at home sick with a miserable cold and trying to work on your labor of love web page only someone on the internet is bombarding your server with a gazillion packets a second or something so all sorts of network services mysteriously drop out on you and you're tired and cranky and, now do you understand why today is the day the rants section was born?
